The easiest and cheapest way to store potatoes is in bulk (in piles).
With this storage system, more products can be stored per square meter than with other types of storage.
This system is best suited for storing potatoes and hard onions.
There are several solutions for storage in piles:
Floor ventilation with half round ducts
Due to the gradual narrowing of the channel, uniform air distribution is achieved throughout the volume (pile) of the product. The distance between the channels is equal to the height of the shoulder to ensure optimal air distribution.
Benefits:
- easy to assemble;
easy to clean at the end of the storage season.
Ventilation with grid floor or ducts
A fully slatted floor promotes more optimal air distribution within the product, as ventilation is carried out over the entire area. But such a system requires much more investment than the rest.
Benefits:
- optimal air distribution throughout the entire thickness of the product.
