Storage systems for potatoes
Potato storage. Suction wall
Principle of operation:
When negative pressure (vacuum) of air is created between two rows of boxes, the air passes through the side walls of the boxes through the thickness of the product, thereby drying or cooling it.
Conditions for efficient system operation:
- enough space above boxes (1.50 – 1.80 m) for intake flaps;
- sufficient distance between boxes;
- the space between the boxes is covered with a special coating.
Advantages of a Suction wall:
- separate storage of products of different grades and fractions;
- low air resistance, which ensures lower energy consumption;
- the ability to regulate the air flow separately for each channel;
- air travels a short distance (box thickness), which contributes to quick and effective ventilation of products;
- fast cooling and drying of products inside the container;
- all boxes receive the same volume of air and all products are dried and cooled evenly.
